Course Description:

Learn traditional oil painting from Seth Fite. This course will cover materials and their history, basic painting techniques, and how to interpret a subject realistically. Returning students will continue to challenge themselves in rendering subtlety of form and color. Introductory students will begin with a sphere and still life.

The methods and philosophy are that of the Boston School, the Nerdrum School in Norway and the Old Masters before them. Students will learn a limited palette, the difference between direct and indirect painting and the basics of sight size.
